Watching the ice come out perfectly clear is actually kind of mesmerizing—like a tiny glass sculpture in my glass. The spheres melt slowly enough that my bourbon stays cold without getting watered down, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

I was skeptical about the effort, but the first sphere I made looks like it came straight from a high-end cocktail bar. The clarity is unreal — you can read a menu through the ice, and it melts slow enough that my old-fashioned stayed cold without getting watery.
